My reflection

I think its safe to say I had a lot of work and projects this year and I’ll do my best to cover this stuff in a short reflection. I created lots of stuff during my web discovery Friday’s, over 3GB worth of stuff. While most of it was creating stupid stuff such as a rick roll finder where it will tell you its a rick roll. Or something more practical such as a chat application and base64 decoder and encoder. But this really isn’t the import stuff, a good reflection should also include what helped me the most this year.

What was the most import project?

To me, our most import project was the final, It showed me what it’s like developing a site with a team, and presenting it and trying to sell it, almost as if it was the real world. For the final, we had to create a website for a non-profit that would be holding a gala. For this, we create a make believe fundraiser for bats, called endangered echoes that would serve as the non profit for the project.

Final project reflection

The goal for this project was to create a professionally designed website, and present it as if we were trying to sell the website. We developed the website for about a week and a half and made a presentation designed to sell the website.

The general theme of the presentation include, light & dark greens, abstract shapes images with rounded corners and shadows so the pop out to the user. We also include some design concepts that are known to promote positive thoughts about the subject, thus increasing the success of the presentation.

We ended up getting a 94/100 on the presentation, which I count as a success. The reason why I chose this project was because it simulated what its like working in the real world, competing to sell your website design. I do think we could have done better with our patience with each other, because the screen was lagging, and thus created confusion because I couldn’t see the key clicks behind the laptop screen.

Besides projects

I really enjoyed my time in WEB this year. Sure there was a few hiccups here and there but everything went really well. We laughed, joked, learned, and had fun. Working on group projects was also interesting at times as it often turned into a mini competition between groups. But overall we had fun this year, and learned a lot.
